SWiM® (Starting With Me™) helps every member of your organization find personal and practical motivation for doing the right thing. SWiM® creates the kind of atmosphere that encourages and equips people for the evolution of corporate ethics.
Here's how your organization can get started.
1. Perform an Organizational Audit.
An Organizational or Corporate ethics audit will help you evaluate your current ethics profile and act as a baseline from which to build. At the same time it will raise the level of awareness of common ethical issues and help people to begin articulating their own deeply held values. Finally, it will highlight areas that could benefit from deeper review and action plans.
SWiM® can help! Order our SWiM® Physical for Organizations (Corporate or Organizational Audit) It's easy to administer. It's easy to build on.
2. Create an Organizational Code of Ethics
Just as important as the Organizational Mission and Vision is the Code of Ethics. It will reflect your organizational values and how you implement them with regard to your product or service, your employees, customers, stakeholders, the community and the environment.
SWiM® can help! A SWiM® Coach will work with your board, management group or ethics committee to create a Code of Ethics congruent with your mission and vision statements. Combining this with construction of your Ethics Development Plan is a cost-effective way to maximize small group input and convert talk to action. Contact us today and we will provide a free consultation by phone to explore your organizational needs.
3. Construct an Ethics Development Plan
Stemming from your Code of Ethics and informed by what you've learned from the Organizational Audit, your Ethics Development Plan identifies goals, strategies and action plans for living out the Code of Ethics. As in a good strategic plan, the end result should be a guide to action, not a shelf decoration. Make sure action assignments are made along with milestones, completion metrics, a tie back to the planning process and inclusion in the responsible parties' performance reviews.
SWiM® can help! As above, a SWiM® Coach can work with you in a way that will fit any budget. Larger organizations may choose to designate on-site Coaches who can be certified by SWiM®. Contact us today and we will provide a free consultation by phone to explore your organizational needs.
4. Finally, equip all levels of your organization for Ethics Implementation
This is the most important step. Creating structures within which ethics will thrive takes a systemic approach. Position descriptions, hiring, performance appraisals, development plans, supervision, team development, compensation - all these and more will be planfully considered in a sustainable ethics environment.
5. Implementing SWiM®
Once a customized plan has been developed for your business, we will create a plan to help promote ethics with each employee.
Don't let this become another plan du jour. Every good organization will have accomplished steps 1-3. Only those who care enough to move beyond window dressing, who authentically care about ethics, will equip the entire organization.
